Coffee with Eva Schloss, a Holocaust Survivor

Posted by on in News

During last week Stella Hertanteyo, Fox Autagavaia and Winona Autagavaia were privileged to have coffee with Eva Schloss, a Holocaust Survivor. They were invited through the Cape Town Holocaust Centre.

Eva Schloss was born in Vienna in 1929. Shortly before the Nazis annexed Austria, Eva and her family fled to Belgium and then Holland, where they spent two years in hiding. The family was betrayed and captured on Eva’s 15th birthday. Eva survived nine months in Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp, where together with her mother she endured the daily degradation that robbed the world of so many precious people - including her father and her brother.  After the war, Eva’s mother married Otto Frank, the father of Anne Frank.

Forty years after the end of World War II Eva began to share her story.  She has since written two books and spoken to more than one thousand audiences about her experiences.
