PHS Working Hard to Save Water
You may have seen our new mobile water tank set-up in the last few days. Treated effluent water is pumped from our dam into the tank and water is then transported by mini-tractor and trailer to areas like the front of the school and the staff quad (where only clean water is available). The 500 litre tank can water, under the influence of gravity, for about 40 minutes. Because of time & labour constraints, one can't water all the areas in need but at least some valuable plants and important grassed areas can be kept alive. A pump is being acquired to increase the range that can be covered.
Quotes have also been sought to lay a pipeline from our treated effluent dam to the front for a more effective water solution. Inside the building, we have ordered very efficient tap aerators for the bathrooms which reduce water use when people wash their hands.
