Students Becoming Leaders
There are many opportunities for our students to take a leadership role in the school, particularly in the senior grades.
Matric pupils can apply to become:
The leaders of the school body, with a disciplinary role among pupils. Our prefects are led by a Head Girl and Head Boy, as well as two deputies.
Peer Helpers are specifically chosen to care for pupils at the school. They are assigned to specific classes in Grades 8 and 9, and are there to help each and every pupil under their care. They undergo intensive training in preparation for this important role.
Custodians perform a role of service to the school, and contribute significantly to the running of the school. Custodians become involved in areas such as the Library, Book Shop, Computer Room, Careers, Lockers, Recycling, Lost Property and Sports, among others.
Representative Council of Learners (RCL):
The RCL is a legislated body, whose purpose is to ensure that student opinion on the running of the school is heard and noted. Three representatives are elected from each grade, and two of these representatives sit on the School’s Governing Body. The RCL is led by a President and Vice-President.
Each tutor class elects two representatives, who form a link between the student body and the peer helpers, prefects and RCL; as well as between the class and tutor, Grade Head and Principal. Class reps act as the spokesperson for their class and assist with certain administrative tasks.
