Last week approximately 300 students from all of the grades wrote the Maths Olympiad. All students who receive more than 10 out of 20 will progress to the second round, and the top 15 in each grade will be selected for the UCT Maths Competition in the first week of the second term.

Every Monday to Thursday from 15h15 to 16h15 the Mathematics Departments hosts the Maths Hotseat. All students are welcome and encouraged to attend. A Mathematics teacher is available to assist students with their work. It is often most beneficial for students to have access to help when working through homework or past exam papers and the Hotseat facilitates this.  The teacher is able to assist the student, on a one to one basis, with specific examples or concepts that they may be battling to grasp.

The photos below were taken a the Maths Hotseat yesterday.
